So it’s been a few months now since Noxzema saved my skin. And I have only been using them once a week now for that extra care and prevention. (You can read it here: https://beautybyjemz.wordpress.com/2012/05/10/how-noxzema-saved-my-cheeks/)
Since my skin is all clear, I decided to do some skincare experimenting and see what’s good on the market. I was in Sephora testing out some bronzers for a different post (coming soon) and was given some samples of the Bliss “That’s Incredi-peel” glycolic acid peel pads. So I used them, before researching them (which I am often reluctant to do). I had a few of them so I figured it would give me a decent idea on whether or not there were any kind of immediate results after a few days. So I tried them…
I have to say, this is probably going to be my least witty or sarcastic post EVER. Because, these bad boys are nothing to fool around about.
After using the first one, (applied to a clean and dry face) I noticed that 1: they do burn, which, if my Noxzema story taught me anything it’s that if it burns you, it’s working overtime… and 2: they are extremely over-saturated with product, so score for being able to cut each one in half and get double the uses out of each box… and 3: they work.
Immediately, my skin felt tighter and toned. But the real results came after using these for 1 week. I kid you not, in ONE week I have noticed amazing results. My skin is pretty clear and I don’t have any acne scars or sun spots, but I do have some discolouration around my nose and mouth (pretty common for women of colour) and I have had some skin texture issues since the (and I whisper this part for fear they might strike again) breakouts happened.
As of now, my skin has been smoother than it’s been in the last 6 months. I have also noticed the discolouration getting lighter and I have noticed that the tiny fine lines I had in the corners of my mouth (where my foundation creases no matter WHAT I do to prime the skin) are visibly decreased. Did I mention I only started using these ONE WEEK ago?!
So, I can’t see myself using these everyday. Truthfully, it’s just sheer laziness that I know I can’t commit. I’m just as bad with those teeth whitening strips. Meh. BUT, I will probably use them (cut in half, mind you) 3-4 times a week. The price is a bit heavy, $54 for 30, but since you can double your use by cutting them in half (and storing the other half in a Ziploc bag) you’ll get 60 uses out of each box, so a 2 month supply. Not bad at all. And if you’re a little like me you could be a little more lax about it. But if you do have sunspots, age spots, acne scars, more visible wrinkles, heavy discolouration, and other visible skin issues then you should probably use them everyday, at least for the first 60 days.
In conclusion, I love this product. It was amazing. I am still shocked that a product I used for only 7 days yielded such immediate results. So amazed and shocked I will show you all some photo of me, in my bathroom, with no makeup on… and you’ll see how my current skin is faring. (The ‘before’ photo which I’m wearing a hairband in – is about 4 weeks old, and the ‘after’ photo which I’m wearing a white tank in- was taken today.)
I think it’s always more important to spend time and energy on having great skin than to spend a lot of time and money worrying about covering it up with makeup. My life is busy so I often don’t wear any makeup at all, even if that’s what I do. So I am loving having clear, and SMOOTH skin right now because I feel confident leaving the house with a naked face everyday.
I think I am falling in love with my skin again! Ahhh. Bliss!
